The Parts Runner assists the parts and service department personnel by performing the following duties.

Work is predominately indoors within a usually quiet to moderately noisy environment. Considerable amount of time is spent working/sitting in front of computer. They generally work regular business hours, however they will also be expected to work overtime to meet project deadlines.

Position Objective/Description:
The Parts Runner assists the parts and service department personnel by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers parts to technicians.
- Ensures that areas of the parts department are properly stocked.
- Assists the service department by moving vehicles as needed and delivering vehicles to other repair facilities for sublet repairs.
- Gives customers a ride to and from the dealership, if required, when vehicles are brought in for service.
- Picks up and/or delivers parts to designated accounts when instructed by the parts or service departments.
- Makes bank deposits each afternoon.
- Delivers mail to the post office each evening.
- Checks with the office daily to verify if titles need to be taken to the courthouse or office supplies picked up.
- Ensures the cleanliness of the parts department by disposing of used boxes and trash, sweeping floors and dusting parts bins daily.
- Crates all cores for shipment back to the manufacturer when part has been replaced.
- Assists detail department in washing cars when shorthanded.
- Helps push cars into shop when they cannot be started.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach and grasp with hands and arms.
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment; such as but not limited to a phone, personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machines.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Education / Experience:
- No prior experience or training.
- Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class E driver’s license
