Position Objective/Description:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a skid steer.

Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Frequently works near heavy equipment and moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. Work may involve exposure to a variety of substances found on construction sites such as oil, grease, gasoline, concrete and diesel fuel. Periodically exposed to fumes, lubricants, airborne particles, and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Position Objective/Description:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a skid steer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate skid steer to grade site using grade stakes, lasers, survey markers and site plans
- Operate skid steer for preparatory work, grades, drainage, and other activities
- Move rock, dirt, aggregate and other materials
- Clean up debris and materials from work sites
- Inspect equipment for deficiencies, such as tracks, lights, brakes and fuses.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of equipment
- Perform minor maintenance to include cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment
- Check fluid levels, maintain tires pressures and change implements or attachments
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Work closely with crew members to achieve project objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of heavy equipment used in excavating and grading operations, including their capacities and physical limitations
- Safe driving abilities and strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
- Able to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills
- Effective communications with jobsite supervisor and co-workers
- General knowledge of road construction processes.
- Demonstrate a safety-first attitude.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksites
Physical Demands:
- Constant physical effort, including extended sitting for at least 8-hour shift
- Intermittent walking and standing on a construction site.
- Climb intermittently
- Regularly twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform duties
- Regularly reach above shoulder level
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift, push, pull and/or carry at least 50 pounds occasionally, and sometimes heavier weight.
- Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
- Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach and grasp with hands and arms.
- Excellent hand, eye, and foot coordination.
- Good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Education / Experience:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two (2) years’ recent experience with skid steer or Bobcat operation
- Experience with entering, exiting, maneuvering, traveling, and working with skid steer and attachments (such as milling head, broom, bucket)
- Active Driver’s license
