Asphalt Milling Foreman

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Position Summary
The Milling Foreman oversees daily asphalt milling operations, leading the milling crew to safely and efficiently remove existing asphalt surfaces according to project specifications. This role ensures quality, productivity, and safety while coordinating with operators, truck drivers, laborers, and project leadership..
Key Responsibilities
Lead and direct the milling crew to achieve daily production goals.
Plan milling activities, including depth, sequence, and truck coordination.
Read and interpret plans, grades, and milling maps.
Ensure proper traffic control, work zone setup, and safety compliance.
Oversee milling machine operation, equipment setup, and basic maintenance.
Monitor quality of cut, depth accuracy, and surface preparation.
Communicate with Superintendent, paving team, and truck drivers to maintain workflow.
Complete daily reports, timesheets, and production quantities.
Ensure crew adherence to company policies, safety requirements, and work standards.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of asphalt milling operations and equipment.
Ability to lead crews and communicate effectively.
Knowledge of roadway construction and safe work practices.
Ability to make decisions in fast-changing field conditions.
Reliability, professionalism, and strong safety focus.
Physical Requirements
Work outdoors in heat, humidity, and loud environments.
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around heavy equipment.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED.
3–5 years of asphalt milling experience required.
Prior leadership or operator experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
