Position Objective/Description:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fabrication equipment used in the manufacturing, modification, and repair of metal components. The Fabrication Equipment Operator must be experienced in operating a variety of fabrication machinery and tools while maintaining quality standards, productivity goals, and workplace safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate fabrication equipment including:
    • Lathe
    • Mill
    • Shear
    • Press Brake
    • Plasma Cutting Equipment
    • Welding Equipment
    • Band Saw
    • Torch Cutting Equipment
    • Iron Worker
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
  • Measure, mark, and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain fabrication equipment for proper operation.
  • Perform cutting, forming, welding, grinding, and finishing operations on various metal materials.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform routine maintenance and daily inspections of equipment and tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers regarding production schedules, material needs, and equipment issues.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating fabrication equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate all listed fabrication machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and measuring instruments.
  • Skilled in welding and metal fabrication practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and fabrication issues.
  • Demonstrate a safety-first attitude and strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as required.
Physical Demands:
  • Constant physical effort, including standing for extended periods during an 8- to 10-hour shift.
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate machinery, tools, and controls.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to hear and respond to instructions in a noisy shop environment.
  • Good vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish measurements and markings.
Education / Experience:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating fabrication equipment, including Lathe, Mill, Shear, Press Brake, Plasma Cutting, Welding, Band Saw, Torching, and Iron Worker equipment.
  • Experience reading blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Welding certifications are a plus.
Work Schedule:
  • First Shift.
  • Must be available to work five (5) days per week.
  • Typical work week consists of 40-50 hours.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays when required.
Work Environment:
Regularly works in a fabrication shop environment around moving mechanical equipment, power tools, welding operations, and metal fabrication machinery. Frequently exposed to noise, dust, sparks, fumes, vibration, and varying temperatures. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
